Starts 11AM Sunday 5th May 2019 - Push the Boat Out Day - Free Sailing
Published 00:00 on 22 Mar 2019
Looking to spend time with family and enjoy the great outdoors? Have you ever considered what might be possible on-the-water? And it's probably closer to home than you think! The RYA's Push the Boat Out campaign is returning this spring to offer you the chance to try sailing. No experience necessary!
What is Push the Boat Out?
Push the Boat Out is an open day offering free 'Try Sailing' opportunities all around the UK. More than 350 RYA affiliated clubs and training centres will be opening their doors to the local community to try sailing and Wigan Sailing Club is ready to greet you.
What can I expect from an open day event?
Push the Boat Out is aimed at anyone interested in getting into a boat and out on the water. With no experience or equipment necessary, events are aimed at complete beginners, as well as more experienced sailors looking for a way back into the sport or interested in finding out more about their local club. Families, children, partners, individuals, groups of friends – everyone is welcome! Come on down from 11am, once registered you will be given a ticketed time for your free group sail with one of our club members.
We have various family entertainments, craft stalls, barbeque, soft drinks etc.
What do I need to bring?
All kit and safety equipment is provided, all you need is; some clothes you don't mind getting wet (ideally not jeans), a change of clothes (to wear after your on-the-water activity) and a towel.
How much will it cost?
All sailing activities are free for this special day we call 'push the boat out' which is held once a year. We would ask for voluntary donations.
We really look forward to welcoming you to our event. Wigan Sailing Club is a 'not for profit organisation' and is run by the members for the members.
